1. Identify your MINI model before you shop
Cooper, Cooper S and JCW badges do not tell you everything about fitment. Check the model code, production year, body style and engine against the product listing. The year a car was registered may differ from when it was built.
If you are unsure which code applies, use our MINI generations guide. For a particular item, ask us about fitment before ordering. Send the product link, your model and year, and a photo of the area you want to change.
Unsure what fits? Send us the product link, your model code and year, plus a photo if it helps. We can check the listing with you before you order.
Gen 1: R50, R52 and R53
Start with parts and accessories for Gen 1 models, then check the listed engine, body style and production details.
Gen 2: R55, R56, R57, R58, R59, R60 and R61
Browse the Gen 2 range for your model. A part listed for an R56 Hatch will not automatically suit the R60 Countryman.
Gen 3: F54, F55, F56, F57 and F60
In the Gen 3 parts and accessories range, check whether a product is for pre-facelift, LCI or LCI2 cars. Lights, grilles and bumper accessories can differ between versions.
Gen 4: F65, F66, F67, J01, J05 and U25
Shop the Gen 4 range using the exact model code. Similar-looking petrol and electric cars can need different accessories.
2. Choose genuine MINI parts or aftermarket alternatives
SMPS2012 supplies both. Genuine MINI parts are MINI-branded products; aftermarket parts and accessories are made by other manufacturers. Choose according to the job, finish and fitment information, and compare part numbers where the listing provides them.
Be careful with the word “genuine” when it describes a material. Genuine carbon fibre means real carbon fibre; it does not, by itself, mean the product is MINI-branded. Carbon fibre look or carbon effect describes an appearance, so read the material and finish details before choosing.
3. Shop by the change you want to make
Dechrome accessories — refresh chrome detailing with a different finish. Check whether you are buying clip-on covers, adhesive covers, vinyl or replacement parts.
Lighting upgrades — compare the model, facelift version, connectors and installation requirements. Do not assume every light is a direct swap.
Interior accessories — check screen shape, steering-wheel type, left- or right-hand drive and any factory equipment mentioned in the listing.
Exterior accessories — match the body style and bumper specification, especially where Cooper S or JCW styling differs.
Performance parts — use the engine details and part number as well as the model code. Check any supporting modifications or fitting requirements before you buy.
For a dechrome project, beltline covers and vinyl beltline kits offer different fitting methods. Rigid covers fit over the existing trim; vinyl kits use self-adhesive film. Compare the kit contents and preparation instructions rather than choosing on colour alone.
Before you order: four quick checks
Model code — match the exact code and body style in the listing.
Production year — check when the car was built, not just registered.
Facelift version — check pre-facelift, LCI or LCI2 where relevant.
Finish and contents — select the finish and check whether the price covers one item, a pair or a kit.
4. Check the finish, contents and final price
Gloss black, matte black, real carbon fibre and carbon fibre look give different results. Check the selected option and the photos that relate to it. If you are matching existing accessories, ask about the finish before ordering.
Read whether the price covers one item, a pair or a full kit. A “From” price is the starting price for the available options; select your required model, finish and quantity to see the price for your choice. Check whether clips, adhesive, tools or other fitting items are included.
5. Review delivery and fitting details
SMPS2012 is based in the UK and ships internationally to supported destinations. Check our delivery information, then enter your destination at checkout to see the available services and charges for your basket. Options depend on the products, parcel size and destination; import charges may apply.
Before fitting, compare the supplied item with your order and read the installation guidance and returns information. If something looks wrong, contact us before removing adhesive backing or fitting the part so we can help check it.
Common questions about choosing parts for your MINI
Will an F56 part fit an F66 or J01?
Do not assume it will. F56, F66 and J01 are different model codes. Only order if your exact model and relevant specification appear in the product’s fitment information, or after checking with us.
Can I buy genuine and aftermarket parts from SMPS2012?
Yes. The range includes genuine MINI parts and aftermarket products. Use the description, brand and part number where supplied to understand which type you are buying.
What details should I send for fitment help?
Send the product link, model code, production year, body style and relevant engine or trim details. A clear photo of the existing part or fitting area can help us compare it with the listing.
